About

Chief Eclectic Officer Michele Glorie has a passion for all things vintage. Michele established Glorie Dayz in 2024 after having retired from a 30-year career in public relations and communications for technology companies. Her roles took her to amazing places around the world such as China, India, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

Upon retiring, she set her sights on finding a location to bring her dream of Glorie Dayz to life. She obtained the perfect spot for a shoppe in the heart of Groton.

Michele grew up on a farm in New York state. Among other chores, she was responsible for collecting eggs from the chicken coop each morning for her father to sell to his co-workers. As a teenager, her weekends were spent planting trees and harvesting fruit with her family. She learned how to drive a stick-shift vehicle by driving a tractor.

Everything in Michele’s home has a story. Works of art created by her mother.  The beautiful quilts made by her grandmother. Framed mirror that her grandfather made of shells and stones. A desk made with barn siding from the farm. Mini paintings created by her aunt who is an antique dealer. Photo of an uncle who used to take her and her brother to the “Big D” (the dump) in search of items to upcycle.

Michele’s vision for Glorie Dayz is for the eclectic blend of vintage and new items to spark memories for shoppe guests so they may delight in their personal glorie-ous moments or days.

Michele is surrounded by loving family, incredible friends, a community of supporters, and many entrepreneurs who helped make her new-found dream come true. She is a long-time Groton resident and mom of two kids and two cats.

A Glorie-ous Family

Michele’s mother Josephine is an incredible person. She is an author, artist, and philanthropist with a doctorate degree in Women’s Studies and English literature. Many of the quilted items at Glorie Dayz were lovingly stitched by Josephine in the comfort of her home where she resides with her husband. Some of her books and painted kindness stones are also featured at Glorie Dayz.

Douglas, Michele’s father, is her main business consultant. He offers a wealth of knowledge after decades working at a technology company and as a farmer growing fruit such as grapes which were made into wine offered at a winery which he operated on the farm alongside his wife. Many of the antiques at Glorie Dayz were curated by Douglas. He is also an author.

Anyone who appreciates thrifting would have adored Michele’s paternal grandmother. Michele’s passion for vintage was largely inspired by Caroline. She had an outhouse in her backyard for no particular purpose other than nostalgia. Reclaimed barn wood siding lined a wall in her living room upon which she hung antiques and family photos.

After returning home from serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, Joseph, Michele´s maternal grandfather developed a passion for making works of art out of nature … seashells, stones, tree branches, leaves … and a lot of glue. Michele’s grandmother Anna was the ultimate matriarch within a home overflowing with love and scrumptious meals. Joseph and Anna were born in Italy.

Michele’s aunt Nina owned a multi-dealer antique store for many years in the 19th century village where she grew up. As she and her childhood sweetheart husband refurbished a cottage in a historic southeastern town, she began renting space in a local antique store. Nina, who enjoys thrifting, painting, and refinishing furniture, started by selling antiques out of her garage.
